  • Copyright Laws are designed to protect a work of authorship from being violated in a criminal way. Without Copyright Laws, authors and all varieties of innovators dependent on publication of their work would not have adequate protection from fraudulent duplication of the material or outright thievery of both published and unpublished material. The copyright of a material protects the form of expression rather than the subject matter of the writing.

  • With the increasingly expanding frontier of internet and cyberspace technology in the 21st century, the federal and state governments have been very busy trying to keep up with the intellectual property and information technology aspect to the business. Internet laws will help those whose product, business, or web pages are violated in any way.
  • For the purpose of copyright registration, it is important to identify the copyrightable elements contained in the multimedia work. Identifying the elements will help you to determine which application form to use and what type of material to deposit.
  • Patent laws grant an inventor the right to exclude others from producing or using the inventor's discovery or invention without permission for a limited period of time.

  • Computer programs are considered "literary works" for the purpose of copyright law. The 1980 amendments to the US Copyright Act define a computer program as a "set of statements or instructions to be used directly or indirectly in a computer in order to bring about a certain result." Any computer program, whether described as software, an application, a tool, or a system program, may be protected under copyright law.
  • Technology Law is a sub-category of Intellectual Property Law. As new technology is being innovated at the highest rate of speed ever in United States history, laws covering technology and other similar intellectual properties are advancing to keep up with the overflow of new technology.
  • Trademarks are protective words, names, symbols, sounds, or colors that distinguish goods and services from those manufactured or sold by others and that indicates the source of the goods. Trademarks, unlike patents, can be renewed forever as long as they are being used in commerce.
  • The CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 (Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act) establishes requirements for those who send commercial email, spells out penalties for spammers and companies whose products are advertised in spam if they violate the law, and gives consumers the right to ask emailers to stop spamming them.

DNS translates the name into the corresponding IP address
The Domain Name System is a system of mapping names to IP addresses. Because domain names are alphabetic, they're easier for humans to remember. The Internet, however, is really based on IP addresses. Every time you use a domain name, DNS translates the name into the corresponding IP address. It is similar to a phonebook for the Internet.
